Toys that give children the chance to figure something out on their own, build their logical thinking skills and help them develop resilience as they become persistent problem-solvers. Toys like this can also help children develop spatial awareness (understanding how things fit together), hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills.

Some ideas to help them further their play with nested toys include:

 

  • fill the small box with items such as marbles or buttons How many small boxes are needed to fill the large box completely?
  • use stacking boxes as containers for small world play. Each box can house a different animal to make a zoo, or become a home in a city-scape, for example
