OPPI is a new concept in construction and building toys. It was launched in 2019 by two French toymakers who wanted to develop a toy that would address on one of child development’s biggest issues: concentration span. With more and more technology and devices at their fingertips, many children are finding it increasingly difficult to focus on simple play. The OPPI solution is Piks. Silicone cones and small wooden planks provide complimentary building materials, that allow children to build and balance with infinite possibilities. Because the wood and silicone grip each other there is more scope for construction, but children must explore the boundaries and parameters of balance and other physical concepts in order to keep their structures standing. The result is an absorbing and creative activity that stimulates everything from fine-motor development and strategic thinking to risk-taking and of course, concentration.
