Hi! My name is Emma Gouldbourn, I live in the Peak District and I am a first time Mum to my amazing, funny 15-month-old daughter.
My first experience of working with children was when I lived in Spain, working in an international school. Somewhat corny but I really did find my vocation there, although I’m sure the sunny weather and the pool outside my classroom helped somewhat… Anyway, the love of all things Early Years had developed, and I was hooked, I moved back to the UK to study for a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies at Manchester Metropolitan University. A PGCE specialising in Early Years and a Masters in Childhood Studies and Practice soon followed.
I started my first job as a teacher in Tameside near Manchester 11 years ago and became Early Years Lead soon after passing my induction year. Prior to my maternity leave I enjoyed working at MMU as an Associate Lecturer alongside my classroom teacher role, the opportunity to combine theory and practice is very rewarding.
My biggest accomplishment is without a doubt my role as Mummy, I thought I had a good understanding of all thing’s early years until this little firecracker entered my life. How wrong was I?!
