free-play boxGrapat £43.30
Grapat's simple wooden free-play box provides a self-contained space for a child's game or activity. This dedicated framework has a profound effect on play - encouraging greater focus and allowing them to return again to an activity that might otherwise be cleared away, giving them ownership and security. Can also be used for sensory play when filled with tactile materials like rice or cornflakes. Old children will enjoy drawing their finger through sand to make marks and practise letter formation.

This has been a perfect place for my little one to play with her small world toys which previously ended up all over the place... Now they're more accessible and she often plays with them. I plan to use the play frame for other things (nature collections and scenes and later building projects) and I think it'll be a great place she can have as her own out of the baby's reach! Can see many uses as she grows and it's a lovely product, well made and beautiful to have around (currently it's on our coffee table in the living room.) very pleased with it, worth the price for the longevity and flexibility and quality.
Why we love loose parts
Quantity over quality
The joy of loose part play is in having a large number of similar pieces. The more the better. The sheer number of objects inspires new kinds of play.
Rediscover everyday objects
You don't need fancy toys or special materials. Cotton reels, shells, nuts and bolts: anything will do.
Play without an end in mind. Explore the materials and go in whatever direction they suggest. Loose part play is about discovery.
