Rainbow FriendsGrimm's £34.95
There are 12 Grimm's Rainbow Friends, one for every month of the year. These pared-back, simple forms are familiar yet open to interpretation, encouraging children to use their imagination. These colourful wooden play figures can become soldiers and wizards, farmers and fairies. Hand-crafted and finished with non-toxic stains.
Please note: The rainbow friends pictured are the old style, all made from the same wood the new friends come in a mixture of woods.

Really lovely addition to our growing Grimms collection- arrived In good time too
These are adored by my nearly 2 year old and her 4 year old brother. They use them in so many of their games and match them by colour. There's always a home of just the right shade for one of their Rainbow Friends.
Both my 11 month and 3 year old love playing with these. They match the 12 piece rainbow perfectly.
We love these rainbow friends. They go perfectly with the bright 12 piece rainbow. Both my 10 month and 10 year old love them.
I originally bought these just to copy all the beautiful pictures you see of the friends being stacked on the rainbow, but found that my eldest (4) embraced them for pretend play. She loves taking them to school in the bus and getting them to explore the forest she now makes with other grimms items. She has developmental delays and this is the first time she has ever done pretend play! My youngest (1) also loves to take them in and out of boats and other small places. I've bought a second set to write numbers on and use with math friends.
these little friends are a great addition to a gorgeous rainbow. they can be used for much more then just looking nice on a display ;) little ones might like to give them a bite, but they are quite resistant!
A lovely gift. Colourful and well made.
Why we love figures
You don't need many animals to have a collection rich in story-telling possibilities - a handful of 'goodies' and a 'baddie' is enough. To maximise play value, choose animals with distinct characters such as foxes, mice and goats. Think of the adventures you could have with a wolf, a lamb, a donkey, an owl and an ox. When combined with regular reading, especially traditional tales, the creative possibilities are endless.
Peg people occupy a special place in young children's play. With a stability that comes from a wide base and a supremely grippable head, they're perfect for the baby who is learning to grasp and place. Their simple design also makes them a blank canvas on which to paint any personality, great for small world play.
Rehearse real life
Play people are an especially important part of any pre-school toy box. In these characters children recognise themselves and their families and friends. Their play is usually about enacting real-life or imagined scenes - simple scenarios such as being at home in the kitchen or driving along in the car - compounding their understanding of the world and how everyone in it plays a part.
