Many modern tyre swings have the tyre sitting horizontally, with the inner circle forming a sort of seat. While infinitely more comfortable than the traditional vertical version, this set-up doesn’t allow children to spin around and limits the physical manoeuvres available to the child on the swing. It’s certainly no fun at all for the child with a strong rotation schema, who likes to spin around.
All you need to make a tyre swing is a high branch, a rope, an old tyre and enough space to hurl yourself into. Smaller children can sit inside the circle while older ones can stand on either level, depending on how brave they are.
